Miles Szanto is Miklós Varga in Teenage Kicks. Miklós, or Mik to his friends, is the black sheep of the Varga clan. Often in trouble and always walking on eggshells, Mik can’ wait to finish school and get the hell out of Rockdale.
Miles has been performing professionally on stage and screen from the young age of 8. He has completed extensive training at the prestigious Australian Theatre for Young People, the American Musical and Dramatic Academy on a scholarship and was later invited to attend the prestigious Atlantic Acting School in New York. He has appeared on stage in The Wizard of Oz and Oliver The Musical and acted as Eliott in Cate Blanchett & Andrew Upton’s Sydney Theatre Company production of Tusk Tusk. In film and television Miles played the lead role ‘Kuru’ in the Australian Logie Award and AFI Award winning TV series The Elephant Princess, and ‘Marcus’ in the highly acclaimed Australian drama series Love My Way. His collaboration with director Craig Boreham began on the short film Drowning, a short precursor to Teenage Kicks. They continued to work together on the Italian language short Ostia La Notte Finale and the short Blue Monday which they co-wrote.
Miles is also an avid writer and filmmaker and in 2011 directed his first funded short film The Alien Boy and he currently has a number of projects in development. Miles is based in the United States where has starred in the award winning indie film Bruno and Earlene Go To Vegas (for which he won Best Performance at the Transgender Film Festival), Western Religion, Unravel and the FX series Married.
